One-Page Resume Templates
A one-page resume template earns its length with layout, not a 9-point font. These use compact section spacing, a narrow header and dense-but-readable bullets so ten years of experience fits on one page a recruiter can scan in seconds.
Best for: Early- and mid-career applicants, and anyone applying where a one-page resume is the norm (tech, consulting, most of the US market).
When a one-page template is the right choice
- The posting or the industry expects one page.
- You have under ten years of experience and want it to read as focused, not thin.
- Your current resume spills onto a second page by three lines.

Who a one-page resume suits
One page is the norm for students, graduates and people with under about ten years of experience, and it is expected across much of the US market, in tech and in consulting. It is also the right length for career fairs, networking events and any situation where the reader will glance at it for a few seconds.
How to lay out a one-page resume
Decide what earns its place before you touch the layout: keep the last ten years in detail and compress older roles to a line each. Then tighten the structure: a compact header with contact details on one line, three to five bullets for your current role and two or three for earlier ones, and a single combined skills line. Margins of about 0.5–0.75 inches and 10–11 pt body text keep it readable.
What to emphasise
- Your two or three most relevant roles; older or unrelated jobs can be cut or grouped.
- Bullets that fit on one or two lines, each carrying a result.
- One combined skills line instead of several short sections.
Common mistakes
- Shrinking the font or margins until the page is hard to read.
- Cutting dates or employer names to save space. Recruiters need both.
- Removing a strong achievement to make room for a weak one.
