Student Resume Templates

A student resume template leads with what you have — education, coursework, projects, campus roles and part-time work — instead of leaving a thin experience section to speak for you. These use a friendlier rounded type and an education-first order that still parses as a standard resume.

Best for: University and college students, and recent graduates applying for internships and first roles.

Who a student resume suits

Student templates are for current students and recent graduates applying for internships, placements, summer jobs, graduate schemes and first full-time roles, and for school leavers applying for apprenticeships or part-time work.

How to lay out a student resume

Put education first: degree, institution, expected graduation date and, if it is strong, your grade or GPA. Follow with projects (coursework, hackathons, a dissertation), then experience, including part-time and volunteer work, then skills and activities. Give each project or role two or three bullets that show what you did and what came of it. One page is the norm. If you have little paid experience, add a skills line of tools and languages under education, and keep hobbies to those that show initiative or teamwork.

What to emphasise

  • Modules or coursework that match the role, in a single line.
  • Projects with a concrete result: a grade, a prize, users or a demo link.
  • Leadership in societies, sports teams or volunteering.
  • Awards, scholarships and honours, with a word on how competitive they were.

Common mistakes

  • Listing high-school results once you have a university record.
  • Writing an objective about what you want rather than what you offer.
  • Leaving out part-time jobs because they seem unrelated. They show reliability and people skills.
  • Stretching to two pages. At this stage one focused page is stronger.
